This Sunday is the anniversary of Magna Carta—the document that guarantees that most fundamental of British freedoms—Habeus Corpus.

The right not to be imprisoned by the state without charge or reason. Yesterday this house decided to allow the state to lock up potentially innocent British citizens for up to six weeks without charge.

Now the counter terrorism bill will in all probability be rejected by the House of Lords very firmly. After all, what should they be there for if not to defend Magna Carta.

But because the impetus behind this is essentially political - not security - the government will be tempted to use the Parliament Act to over-rule the Lords. It has no democratic mandate to do this since 42 days was not in its manifesto.

Its legal basis is uncertain to say the least. But purely for political reasons, this government's going to do that. And because the generic security arguments relied on will never go away—technology, development and complexity and so on, we'll next see 56 days, 70 days, 90 days.

But in truth, 42 days is just one—perhaps the most salient example—of the insidious, surreptitious and relentless erosion of fundamental British freedoms.

And we will have shortly, the most intrusive identity card system in the world.

A CCTV camera for every 14 citiziens, a DNA database bigger than any dictatorship has, with 1000s of innocent children and a million innocent citizens on it.

We have witnessed an assault on jury trials—that balwark against bad law and its arbitrary use by the state. Short cuts with our justice system that make our system neither firm not fair.

And the creation of a database state opening up our private lives to the prying eyes of official snoopers and exposing our personal data to careless civil servants and criminal hackers.

The state has security powers to clamp down on peaceful protest and so-called hate laws that stifle legitimate debate - while those who incite violence get off Scot free.

This cannot go on, it must be stopped. And for that reason, I feel that today it's incumbent on me to take a stand.

I will be resigning my membership of the House and I intend to force a by-election in Haltemprice and Howden.

Now I'll not fight it on the government's general record—there's no point repeating Crewe and Nantwich. I won't fight it on my personal record. I am just a piece in this great chess game.

I will fight it, I will argue this by-election, against the slow strangulation of fundamental British freedoms by this government.

Now, that may mean I've made my last speech to the House—it's possible. And of course that would be a matter of deep regret to me. But at least my electorate, and the nation as a whole, would have had the opportunity to debate and consider one of the most fundamental issues of our day—the ever-intrusive power of the state into our lives, the loss of privacy, the loss of freedom and the steady attrition undermining the rule of law.And if they do send me back here it will be with a single, simple message: that the monstrosity of a law that we passed yesterday will not stand."

This must already be one of the greatest speech ever made. It certainly a historic one; a speech that may change the course of British history for the better. Mr. Davis is the heir to Churchill; may he be successful on his quest for liberty.

Rhys Williams Is An Eco-Nazi

Here is my latest letter to the Western Mail newspaper:

SIR – As a climate change sceptic, I strongly object to my 10-year-old brother being brainwashed by either Al Gore’s scientifically flawed vanity project An Inconvenient Truth or President Bush’s friends in the oil industry. How dare Rhys Williams claim to be outraged by the High Court’s decision to prohibit Mr. Gore’s propaganda from schools without guidance notes to refute the flaws and errors in the climate change industry’s arguments? Is it not Mr. Williams himself who is behaving like Big Brother by demonising the High Court for disagreeing with his opinions?

Any school that shows this extremely dubious film should also be required by law to show Channel 4’s documentary The Great Global Warming Swindle so that children are able to make a more informed verdict of their own about this important subject. Mr. Williams and his supporters would be foolish to patronise those children who might disagree with their opinions.

Memo To McStalin: Sack Harperson

The Leader of the House of Commons, Minister for Women and Deputy Leader of the Labour party Harriet "Harperson" Harman has found guilty of speeding for a second time in just two years after pleading guilty via post. When a government minister and lawmaker breaks the nation's laws, particularly when some of these laws concern public safety on the roads, then it is the duty of the offender to resign from their government office or their superiors' duty to dismiss if they will not resign of their own accord. Neither has happened in this case, which is an absolute disgrace. Far from being tough on crime and it's causes, not only do Harperson and her boss both seem to think that they are above the law, but these nasty authoritarian hypocrites also think that they have a right to penalise others more severely for identical offences. No wonder public confidence in our politicians is at an all-time low.

What A Waste Of Bloody Time!

Ever feel that you are going nowhere expect head-first into a brick wall? That has been the story of my life over the past year in my futile quest for full-time paid employment. I just got turned down for a job for about the 187,247th time, this time by Alun Cairns AM.

Credit where credit is due, Mr. Cairns is a classy individual who had a tough decision to make, and choose the candidate who best suited his requirements (the candidate in question is the one who I thought on the day would get the job). I have no problem with that or the lucky candidate, especially since Mr. Cairns had the courtesy to ring all of the candidates to let them know the news. My problem is with myself and the catch-22 situation I seem to find myself up against.

I went to university and graduated in the hope of getting a decent job for all my hard work after years of struggling with self-doubt, chav scum and crazy political extremists such as "Fluffy" Helen Watters and Paul Hunt. Instead, I find myself bloody stuck on the dole, messed around with by the Job Centre while all my application attempts get either stonewalled and or turned down because I haven't got the experience required. The latter reason really does do my head in because how can I get the experience when I keep getting rejection notices all the bloody time?

I've aimed high and been turned down for lacking experience and I've aimed low and still been turned down for being over-qualified. I've applied both locally and further a field and I'm still getting nowhere. It sickens me that complete and utter morons like Harriet Harperson, Bob Piper, Terry Kelly, John Prescott and Jade Goody can get paid employment, yet I cannot. I'm awake 18 hours a day, six-days-a-week holding down three voluntary jobs and have to attend a New Deal training centre most weekdays where some of the people have made it very clear that they don't want paid employment (one of whom was a known local drug dealer) and I still can't get a proper job. I'm so depressed, I feel like doing a Virginia Tech Massacre of my own on the world.

Going to university was the biggest mistake of my life as not only was I politically persecuted by Watters, Hunt as well as libelled and oppressed by them, the Students' "Soviet" Union and that corrupt pervert "Dirty" Barry Burnham, getting my degree has done nothing to improve my chances of employment (quite the opposite in fact). I'm also up to my head in student debt with no prospect of ever being able to pay it off.

This is the reality of my miserable life in Blair and Brown's Fourth Reich.

Double Standards That Play Into The Hands Of The BNP

Here is one for the "you couldn't make it up" file. The Channel Four bigwigs have given the vile, antisocial, man-hating cunt Charley (an Afro-Caribbean) on Big Brother a warning about using the word nigger, yet weeks earlier, the channel booted fellow housemate Emily Parr (a Caucasian) off the show for using the same word (and according to the young Ms. Parr, Charley herself was also using the word during the incident). It is this sort of politically correct double standard that not only pisses me and the majority of the country off, but plays into the hands of Nazi cunts such as BNP Chairman Nick Griffin, whose ambition in life is to gas every Jew, Muslim and ethnic minority to death.

The last ten years have taught us that can't fight the fascism of the BNP, New Labour and Islamic militants with the fascism of Unite Against Fascism, RESPECT, Polly Toynbee and now Channel Four, yet there are still far too many faceless Lefties who refuse to face up to reality.

Ironically enough, Channel Four themselves will be showing the Richard Littlejohn documentary The War On Britain's Jews at 9pm tonight. During this documentary, Mr. Littlejohn makes a compelling argument about how an unholy alliance between Islamofascists such as "Captain Hook" Abu Hamza and the Left is fueling an increase of racist activities against the Jewish people under the disingenuous guise of anti-Zionism and criticism of the State of Israel. If you can, I strongly recommend that you watch this programme as I have witnessed at first-hand discrimination against Jews at university and I myself was persecuted by my first university, it's Students' Union and the racists themselves for speaking out against such attitudes.

So the police were apparently able to stop two terrorist explosions in central London. How convenient! Could it be that the reason they were able to do so be because that this whole crisis is nothing more than a sick publicity stunt cooked up by Labour and the security services to generate a public clamour for yet more repressive legislation against our traditional civil liberties. It seems that the Scottish Stalinist Shitbag, like his Nazi predecessor is trying to engineer a Reichstag fire-type event to realise the Blair/Brown dream/nightmare of a totalitarian British state.

Oh Dear, Big Brother Loses It's Nerve Over The Word 'Nigger'!

So Emily has been evicted from the Big Brother house for using a slang term based on the Latin word for 'black', negro even though it wasn't aimed against anyone of Afro-Caribbean origin. I may not care for the women personally, but I believe Emily was hard done by because of fears about another media and political firestorm over 'racism' on the show. The word nigger is not racist in itself just like the swastika is not a racist symbol on it's own terms. A word, any word only causes offensive if it is used in a negative and derogatory manner; should we just ban language and symbols altogether?!?

Even if the word nigger had been used to deliberately offend Afro-Caribbeans, the best way to combat this abuse of free expression is to fight back with free expression itself. Complaining about the word nigger is really rather childish and such sentiments belong with children on school playgrounds, not mature and adult societies.

Does anyone else find it ironic that Channel 4 are prepared to show a programme with photographs of Princess Diana's death despite complaints from her sons, friends and the Conservatives, yet evict someone from Big Brother for saying "nigger"? Double standards indeed!!!!

I met the young Ms. Williams herself on the morning of Thursday 22nd February 2006 at around 9:30am during the group discussion stage of the Cardiff auditions for that year's Big Brother series. She was of course the centre of attention, informing all of us about why there should be a Welsh housemate on that year's show. I told her that television viewers didn't really care about where a housemate came from, only their personality really mattered. She of course wouldn't let the issue die, much to the boredom of the rest of us in the room. From my brief, but memorable first hand experience of meeting her, I soon noticed that she has the ability to hold the attention of those around with her good-natured personality and I strongly believe that she will do very well on this year's show. Good luck to her!
